Interior Design vs. Interior ReDesign

What’s the difference?

The difference between Home Staging and Interior Design is who the designing is being implemented for.
With Home Staging, the primary goal is to help facilitate selling a home “faster and for more money,” to make a home appealing to the highest number of potential buyers and designed to create mass appeal as opposed to individual appeal. With Interior Design, the design is executed for the individual homeowner, with their specific function and design style in mind. Therefore, Home Staging is what appeals to the Buyer and Interior Designing is what appeals to the Homeowner.

Want to give your New Home a designer look without breaking the bank? Think ReDesign!

Many “Home Stagers” call themselves “Interior ReDesigners.”
Therefore, what does this mean and how does Interior ReDesign differ from Interior Design?
Interior ReDesign is conducted with the homeowner in mind, just like Interior Design.

So what’s the difference and how do you decide which is right for you?

Interior ReDesigners work with design principles (balance, scale, proportion and focal points), elements (colour, lighting,
space, shape, lines, and patterns) and theories (psychology and other fields to create harmonious design) but not so much with the technical aspect of design. They also make suggestions on updating and renovations. They are skilled at putting together a cohesive design with finishes such as tile, paint colour, flooring, window treatments, etc.

Interior Designers typically work with people who have a large budget allowance for the project, since major renovations are being conducted (10K and up is the typical budget).  However, Interior ReDesigners have the flexibility of working with clients who have large budgets, as well as much smaller budgets that are typically under 5K. In addition, if you desire a new look without major renovations or “breaking the bank”, then an Interior ReDesigner is a great choice!

Lastly, most Interior Designers excel at a particular design style, whereas Interior ReDesigners are more like design chameleons and analyze your particular design style and implement it into your home.  Since Interior ReDesigners are often Home Stagers as well, they are used to getting into the mindset of a particular person (target market) and implementing a design based on that group.  Therefore, their range of styles they implement can be more diverse that an Interior Designer.
